Bed Hogs
This is the time of year when it starts to get cool at night, and the dogs always manage to wedge themselves firmly into the middle of the bed during the night. This is how we woke up this morning, and yes - that's Maya taking up the bottom half of the bed. Jack and I wake up barely still on the bed, displaced by the dogs in the night.

Dogs Playing On The Beach
Well, today's our last day at the beach. We've taken the dogs out onto the beach twice during the trip, but always at night since we were told they weren't allowed on the beach this time of year. Pffft! Maya has never even BEEN to the beach before - of course we had to take them out there!
They enjoyed the beach so much (especially Maya) that we wanted to take them while it was light out at least once before we left. So yesterday we waited until 6:30pm when most people had cleared out and took the dogs out to play on the beach.
IT WAS SO MUCH FUN.
Bella runs out into the surf, but as soon as a wave comes in she runs back up the beach. She manages to only get her feet wet. She has the most fun running around and smelling all the strange new things like sand and seashells.
Maya, on the other hand, THROWS herself into the waves. She likes to play this game where she runs up to a large wave as it comes in and tries to take a big bite out of it. It's like she's attacking the wave.

Beach Bums
We've brought the dogs with us to the beach. Maya has never been to the beach, and we can't wait to take her outside and see what she makes of everything! Since this past weekend was Labor Day weekend, it was too crowded to take the dogs out. We'll try for later this week when more people have left.
In the meantime they're having a good time exploring a different house and being lazy beach bums.
Bella enjoys roasting in the sun that comes in from the large glass doors that open to the back deck. She'll inch closer and closer to the door in order to follow the sun.

Cuddle Time
My usual morning routine is to get up, pack Jack's lunch, and then get a load of dishes and/or laundry going. While that's running I'll sit down with my first cup of coffee for the day and have breakfast, maybe read a little.
The dogs love this time of morning because they know I'm stationary while I'm drinking my coffee, and they'll quickly hop up onto the couch with me for cuddles. After being gone this weekend, Bella was especially ready for coffee / cuddle time.

World's Laziest Dog
I have a pile of pillows on the couch, and Bella loves to wedge herself into the corner of the couch on top of all those pillows and take naps in the sun. She's such a bum!
| What? It's like you're trying to tell me 20 hours of sleep per day isn't normal or something. |
