Hops

Have you ever had one of those moments where everything is just perfect?  I had one today while picking hops.

Hops are used to add tang and bitterness to beer, and they grow as super long vines with fuzzy leaves.  My mother-in-law is growing several hop vines for her brother so he can use them in his home-brewed beer.

Today was a PERFECT North Carolina summer day.  Clear blue sky with just a few fluffy clouds to add some pizzaz, the insects were softly humming and chirping in that uniquely summer sound, and the hops had this lovely musky smell as I picked them.  No wonder people have been making beer out of these things since 736!

Ah.... living in North Carolina is just awesome.

  1. They really do smell amazing. So sad I can't drink proper beer.
